UK EuroMillions winner gets £161m, biggest lottery prize ever in U.K
LONDON, UK – UK National Lottery operator Camelot announced yesterday that a British ticket holder has won a record £161 million (€185 million) in the EuroMillions draw made on Tuesday night.
The player, who has yet to come forward to claim their huge prize, matched all five main numbers and both Lucky Stars to win a jackpot that has been rolling over for weeks now.
Two more players bases in the United Kingdom won the second tier prize of £1.7 million after matching five numbers and one Lucky Star.
A National Lottery spokesperson said, “This is amazing news. We are absolutely delighted that a UK ticket holder has scooped the entire 185 million euro jackpot. In addition, two UK ticket-holders in the next prize level down won £1.7 million for matching five main numbers and one Lucky Star.
“We’ve got the champagne on ice and look forward to welcoming the ticket holders into the National Lottery millionaires’ club,” they added.
The EuroMillions was launched in 2004 and is now played in nine countries across the continent including Austria, Belgium, France, Ireland, Luxembourg, Portugal, Spain, Switzerland and the United Kingdom.
