Georgia man turns $35 Mega Millions win into $1m Powerball prize

ATLANTA, GA – Matthew Starks Jr. is thanking his lucky stars after he turned a small MegaMillions win into a million dollars on another multi-state draw game; Powerball.
The 57 year old from Lithonia, Ga. used some of the $35 he won playing Mega Millions to invest in Powerball tickets for the September 6th draw, including the $1 Power Play.
It turned out to be one of the best financial decisions of his life as he matched the first five winning numbers, but not the Powerball, meaning he won $200,000. With the extra $1 PowerPlay his prize multiplied five times to a cool million.
“I’ll be paying off bills and helping my daughter through college,” he said. Starks shared the good news with his wife, Wanda, on her birthday Tuesday.
The Winning numbers from the Powerball drawing were 3, 5, 18, 27, 54 and the Powerball was 13.
