Sports anchor wins $2m lotto on TV channel he works for

TORONTO, ON - Two Canadian news anchors announced the winner of a $2 million lottery jackpot and then realised it was their sports presenter colleague.

Barry Deley was announced as the winner on TV station Global News yesterday and, after some debate about the correct spelling of his name, the hosts concluded it must have been their co-worker.

Still live on live TV the excited anchors phoned Deley, who was shopping for groceries. While on the phone to his co-workers Mr Deley said that he had dreamt of this outcome.

“It’s unbelievable. It’s amazing,” Deley said, “You know people are going to think this is kind of fishy, don’t ya?”

His win has prompted talk of a rigged draw but it seems that he won the prize fair and square. It is somewhat surprising that he was allowed to enter the draw but is not against the rules.
