Record EuroMillions winners to donate “seven figures” to SNP

EDINBURGH, UK – Record EuroMillions jackpot winners Colin and Chris Weir have pledged to donate a “seven figure” sum to the Scottish National Party (SNP) to help Alex Salmond’s campaign for Scottish independence.
Colin Weir is a long time supporter of the political party, he even stood as a candidate in the 1987 General Election.
According to the Scottish Sun, Mr Weir and Mr Salmond even worked together when the current SNP leader was a publicity officer. Colin Weir, a former TV cameraman helped to produce SNP party political broadcasts many years ago.
The donation of at least one million pounds will go towards helping the campaign for a yes vote in a referendum on Scottish independence.
The First Minister has been in touch with the couple since their win in July. He said, “I did wonder if this was the same Colin Weir who helped produce SNP party political broadcasts for a young party publicity vice-convener all these years ago. I was delighted to discover this is indeed the case. It is wonderful to have this opportunity to make contact again.”
Mr Salmond met Colin and Chris Weir and it was during the meeting that the Weir’s pledged to help the SNP with one of the biggest single donations they’ve ever received.
