North Carolina Lottery ticket worth $1 million expires this afternoon
RALEIGH, NC – The Charlotte Observer reports that a $1 million ticket was sold in Stallings, southeast of Charlotte, in August. No one has claimed the prize in those six months leading up to today, which is the last day before the ticket expires.
If the winner doesn’t show up at lottery headquarters in Raleigh by 5 p.m. Wednesday, the ticket will expire. The money will then be divided equally between Medicaid and North Carolina educational establishments.
There is no history of people missing out on lottery prizes in North Carolina and this ticket would be the first NC Lottery prize of over a million dollars to go unclaimed.
