Winning MegaMillions ticket sold in Ohio worth $99m
COLUMBUS, OHIO – One lucky lottery winner matched all six Mega Millions numbers in Friday night’s draw for a jackpot of nearly $100m.
An Ohio Lottery spokeswoman said the winning jackpot ticket for Friday’s drawing was sold at a Speedway gas station in Jefferson, Ohio, reported Forbes.com.
The lottery winner has not come forward to claim their prize at this time. It is also unknown if the Mega Millions winner is a resident of Ohio, or was just passing through the state when they purchased the lottery ticket.
The winning numbers drawn on August 5th were 6, 24, 28, 33 and 42. The Mega Ball was 19 and the Megaplier was X 3.
The estimated jackpot was $99,000,000 annuity paid out over 26 annual payments, or a one-time cash prize of $66,000,000. Unfortunately, whichever option the Mega Millions winner chooses, federal and/or state taxes will have to be taken from the prize amount.
