Atlantic Lottery Corporation insiders win 12 per cent of all prizes
NEW BRUNSWICK, CANADA – About 12% of Atlantic Canadians who win large jackpots are connected to the lottery company in some way.
That’s according to figures released by the Atlantic Lottery Corp., which started tracking its inside winners on the heels of 2007 allegations against the Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corp. that ticket sellers were stealing winning numbers.
In Atlantic Canada, 12% of people who won more than $25,000 in 2010-11 were either employees of ALC or one of its suppliers or ticket sellers, or a relative of an employee. That tripled from just 4% in 2009-10.
