Florida Lottery achieves record scratch card sales in September

ORLANDO, FL - According to the Florida Lottery, scratch-off ticket sales topped $186 million last month, setting a record for September sales.  Sales revenue this September beat the old record of just under $173 million, set in 2007, by 7.8 percent.

Those sales generated $35 million for the Educational Enhancenment Trust Fund, while the Florida Lottery awarded $131 million in scratch-off prizes during the month.

The Florida Lottery offers more than 40 scratch-off games at any given time through instant ticket vending machines and on-counter displays at 13,200 retailers statewide. Scratch-off games are an important part of the Lottery’s portfolio of games, making up approximately 56 percent of all sales Scratch-off tickets generated more than $420 million for the Educational Enhancement Trust Fund in fiscal year 2010-11, spokeswoman Connie Barnes said.
