Virginia woman wins $500k scratch card prize

VIRGINIA BEACH, Va – A woman from Virginia Beach has won a half million dollar scratch card prize after playing the Virginia Lottery’s “Jumbo Bucks” instant game.

Jodi McCreery Grady is the lucky lady in question. She said that before she bought the winning ticket she had been to the store earlier and purchased a green lighter with a lucky Irish shamrock on it. That night she stopped at the same store and bought the scratch card and it turned out to be a jackpot winner!

“I told the people in the store that I think I just won the big ticket. They screamed and yelled and hollered,” said Mrs. Grady of the reaction to her win.

On the Monday after she’d scratched her way to a big prize, Grady turned up to Virginia Lottery headquarters in a chauffer driven limousine to claim her prize.

She is the second winner of the $500,000 top prize allocated to the “Jumbo Bucks” instant game, which means that there is now only one jackpot left to be won from all the remaining scratch cards in circulation.

When asked what she intended to do with her winnings, Mrs. Grady said that she will use it to provide for her son’s future and to look after her father who has done so much to take care of her in the past.

“I told the people in the store that I think I just won the big ticket,” Ms. Grady said. “They screamed and yelled and hollered.”
