Minnesota man takes home $300k scratch prize

A man from Willmar, Minnesota has won a  $300,000 lottery jackpot after buying a scratch card from the Minnesota State Lottery.

April Fool’s Day was Thomas Jensen’s lucky day as he decided to buy a scratch card at a local gas station as he’d seen the games advertised and “thought they looked cool.”

Mr. Jensen, who normally pays for fuel at the pump said, “I had been hemming and hawing about buying a scratch card, so I decided to do it.”

He waited until he got home to scratch the ticket and when he did he revealed at first a Royal Flush (worth $100,000) and another $100,000 prize amount on the same ticket. Mr. Jensen was so surprised to have won such a large amount on the ticket he thought it might be an April Fool’s joke!

According to Minnesota Lottery Officials, Jensen thought he’d won $200,000. When his wife came home from work, she looked at the booklet and realized there was another $100,000 prize.

The last found prize brought the tickets total value to $300,000.

Mr. Jensen didn’t comment on any plans he may have for the winnings.
