Irish Lotto winners take home €16m

A couple from County Waterford are now €16.7 million richer after pocketing a massive Lotto jackpot.

The lucky couple won the second largest lotto jackpot since the game began in Ireland when their numbers came up in the draw made last week.

They have asked for anonymity but in a statement they made they said, “The ultimate irony is that even though we now have the funds to go anywhere in the world we want to, there’s no chance right now of flying off to sunnier climates. It’s going to take time for all this to sink in and we do expect our lives to change, but we’re going to take it slowly.”

The also said that they plan to donate some of their winnings to charity, help out friends and family and eventually take a holiday after the volcanic ash clears.
