Iowa’s first Mega Millions millionaire
DES MOINES, IA – 60 year old Robert Boehm from Denison is officially the state of Iowa’s first Mega Millions millionaire after claiming a $1million prize.
Boehm’s ticket matched the first five numbers but missed the Mega Ball to win a $250,000 prize. Luckily he added the Megaplier option when he purchased the ticket, which multiplied his prize to $1 million.
After federal and state taxes deducted, Boehm will net $700,000.
Mr. Boehm win is the first big Mega Millions win in Iowa since the game was introduced in the state in January.
As for his spending plans, Robert Boehm will be taking extended family on a vacation to Germany. He also will use a lot of the money to save for his retirement.
