Iowa lottery winner arrested
DES MOINES, Iowa – A man from Marshaltown who won $1million last year from a Powerball draw has been arrested for supplying alcohol to a minor and possession of prescription drugs.
Ricky Rushton won his million dollar prize last year and continued to run his business; Memories Banquet Hall. An employee of Mr. Rushton who is under the legal drinking age was found to be intoxicated on the premises, according to Police Assistant Brian Batterson in the Chicago Tribune.
Rushton was arrested for supplying alcohol to a minor and was also charged with possession of a prescription drug and violating a city liquor license ordinance.
The Powerball winner called his arrest “a big misunderstanding.” He says he’s in the process of hiring an attorney “to get this cleared up.”
