New Hampshire lottery launches on line scratch offs

CONCORD, NH. – The state lottery of New Hampshire has announced that it will be launching an online scratch card style selection of games on its website. The selection of online lottery games will go live at the start of July.

According to various press reports, players on the site will be able choose the games they play and the stakes they are wanting to play with.

Security is high on the site as well as anyone playing on the site from their home computer or laptop requires a 30 digit access code to be able to play any of the New Hampshire online lottery games.

The New Hampshire Lottery Commissioner Paul Holloway said he feels that the online offering is much like playing scratch cards in store, he added, “A lot of people are reluctant to stand in a store and scratch a ticket.”

There has been some surprise amongst local lawmakers to the decision to allow online gambling in the state. Senate Finance Chairman Lou D’Allesandro said he recognises the Lottery Commission is charged by the state to raise money, but said he can’t understand why online gambling is being allowed when his bill to legalise video slots was rejected this month.
