Miami Dolphins launch scratch card

MIAMI, FL. – The Miami Dolphins NFL team have teamed up with the Florida Lottery to offer a new $5 scratch card throughout the state. The ticket has a jackpot prize of $100,000 and also gives people the chance win Dolphins merchandise and tickets.

The new game is available at a few stores at the moment but will be rolled out across the state by tomorrow. The tickets will also be available for purchase at all Miami Dolphins home games in the coming season.

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Jacksonville Jaguars are also putting scratch cards on sale that are in the same format as the new Miami Dolphins game. To view the new games click here.

The majority of tickets sold by each team will be available in their own regions of Florida but limited numbers of the other games will be made available to buy statewide.

The tickets include 12 chances to win cash prizes ranging from $5 to $100,000. Losing tickets have value in a second-chance game. Losing ticket numbers can be entered into the Florida Lottery’s website for a second chance to win a team specific prize such as tickets, stadium tours, a VIP experiences and gear. Six second-chance drawings will be held on Aug. 18, Sept. 8 and 29, Oct. 20, Nov. 10 and Dec. 1.

Jackie Barreiros, lottery director of public affairs told the Sun Sentinel, “We feel that all three teams have a very strong brand and a very strong following. We felt it would be a really good match for the Florida lottery, for generating as much revenue as possible for education.”

Lottery officials estimate if all three scratch-off game sell out their ticket allotments (3.9 million for the Dolphins, 3.24 million for the Buccaneers and 1.56 million for the Jaguars) could generate up to $8.9 million for the state’s Educational Enhancement Trust Fund, which provides money to public schools, scholarships, community colleges and state universities.
