Edmonton man wins Lotto 6/49 jackpot with $5 quick pick

EDMONTON, AL. –  A man from Edmonton has won a CA$6.7million Lotto 6/49 jackpot after using his spare change to buy a quick pick ticket for the draw made on August 18th.

Al Harding had an extra five dollars in his wallet and in a spur of the moment decision he decided to purchase a quick pick ticket at a local store.

On the day after the draw, Mr. Harding checked his ticket and found that all the numbers on his ticket matched the ones drawn the previous evening! “I thought there was something wrong; there was no way I was holding the winning ticket. I thought the heavens must have collided and everything was sideways. I still feel like it isn’t real.” He told the Montreal Gazette.

To his surprise, when he called the lottery corporation to have his ticket verified he found out that he was the only winning ticket holder and was due the full jackpot amount of CA$6.7million.

Al has some plans for his new money. He wants to make some trips abroad, with Germany and Japan on his list. He also plans to buy a new home in the Edmonton area and build a garage where he can work on his passion for restoring cars. He added, “I could never imagine moving away. I want to stay in the community that I love.”
