Two Florence men win $200k S.C. Lottery scratch card jackpot

COLUMBIA, S.C. – Two Florence men hit jackpots in the South Carolina Education Lottery’s Greetings of Green and Black Ticket instant win scratch cards.

Bobby Jones, 65, a retiree of the Department of Defence, won his jackpot prize after playing Greetings of Green.

Describing his reaction to the win, Mr Jones said, “I’m usually a calm guy, but when I realized I won $200,000, I wasn’t. I got nervous and teared up.”

Jones said in a lottery news release that he is considering purchasing an extravagant 50-inch TV for his man cave.

“I spend a lot of time in my garage,” Jones shared. “I like to have friends over and we karaoke, listen to music and have a good time.”

Greetings of Green is a $10, holiday instant game. Five top prizes of $200,000 remain in the game.

The other winning ticket was purchased in the same town, but the winner was not identified in the S.C. Education Lottery press release as he’d asked to keep his anonymity.

The anonymous player said in the news release, “I screamed ‘Wow, man!’ I couldn’t believe it. A fellow working with me wanted to know what was wrong and I said, ‘Nothing’.”

Twenty minutes later the winner was leaving work to have his son drive him to Columbia to claim the prize. He slept the whole trip. “Working two jobs, you nap when you can,” he laughed.

The winner said plans to use his winnings to buy a house and enjoy a nice Christmas with his family.

The prize he won was from the Black instant win scratch ticket and is priced at $10. There are six top prizes of $200,000 remaining to be won.
