Markham man wins CA$15m Lotto 6/49 jackpot

TORONTO, ON – Markham resident Harold Volk, who can no longer work due to an injury, will no longer have to worry about working ever again after he picked up his half of a shared $30 million Lotto 6/49 jackpot yesterday.

The other winner, from Quebec, is yet to claim their half of the jackpot prize.

Mr. Volk has been struggling to make ends meet from his disability cheques over the past five years, no longer has to worry about that, and has the freedom to do things he could never have imagined thanks to Lotto 6/49.

Speaking through a lottery news release, Harold Volk said, “”At first I thought I only had a match for five numbers. Then I realized that I had a match for all six and I ran upstairs to tell my wife. She said that she hasn’t seen me move that fast in years!”

Volk was joined by his two grown up sons at OLG headquarters to pick up the cheque.

The lucky winner said that he had practically used up all of his life savings over the years he has been unable to work. Thanks to this windfall, the Volks will be able to pay off all their debts, buy a house for the first time and go travelling.

“My first thought was that I just want to pay off our debt so that we can breathe,” Volk said. “And then, I’m going to finally buy a house. We’ve been renting all our life and never had the ability to save for a down payment.”

The winning Lotto 6/49 numbers that he matched were 4, 13, 23, 24, 37 and 47.
