Under fire Arkansas Lottery Director given positive review

LITTLE ROCK, AR – Ernie Passailaigue was under the scrutiny of the Arkansas Lottery Commission for the first time yesterday as they met in a closed session to review his performance as director since the lottery began in early 2009.

Passailaigue was praised for his role in launching the Arkansas Scholarship Lottery and for making sure every step of the process went smoothly; from the introduction of scratch cards in the beginning and state wide and multi-state draws in later months.

The lottery director had been under pressure recently after it was revealed that there had been several accounting problems with the Arkansas Lottery. He is also accused of awarding compensatory time to salaried employees.

The Chair of the Arkansas Lottery Commission Dianne Lamberth had only good words to say about Passailaigue’s contribution. Commissioners wouldn’t go into detail about what was said in the closed meeting.

The Lottery Commission will meet again in early February.
