Australian Lotto winner almosts forgets to claim $483k prize

PERTH, AUSTRALIA – A retired man from South Lake has come forward to claim his $483,000 Division One lottery prize that he won from a draw made on August 6th.

The man said the winning ticket had been sitting in his fruit bowl and he had almost forgotten about it.

“I must have got distracted while checking the ticket and I thought it only had a few winning numbers. When I realised it was a Division One winner I was simply shocked and couldn’t comprehend the news.”

The recently retired man said that he would use the money to help out close friends and family. He is also planning on visiting family overseas.

Lotto winners are not the only ones who benefit from Lotterywest games; 33 cents in every dollar spent is returned to local hospitals, sports and arts groups, and thousands of charitable and community organisations.

The tally of winning Division One tickets sold in WA this year has now reached 46, with the winners sharing almost $65 million in prize money.
