N.C. man wins $2million Powerball prize

RALEIGH, N.C. – A retired mechanic from Kannapolis, N.C. has claimed a $2million Powerball prize, which he won on Saturday. James Goodwin didn’t even realise the ticket he had bought was a winner!

Mr. Goodwin claimed his prize on Wednesday and will receive around $1.4million after state and federal taxes are taken from the $2million total prize.

A spokesperson for the North Carolina Education Lottery said that Goodwin didn’t want any attention after winning the prize, saying “there won’t be any sort of formal presentation, as he has already claimed his ticket and turned down media coverage.”

Goodwin plans to use the money to make renovations to his church, pay off his daughters’ mortgages and share some with his grandchildren.
